May The Fourth Be With You!!
A long time ago (1977) in a galaxy far away, well North Wales to be precise.
A young boy was growing up in 1970's Britain. 1977 was a year filled with momentous occasions such as the Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, where seemingly the entire nation joined together and celebrated with thousands of simultaneous street parties.
Manchester United triumphed at Wembley in the English FA Cup Final, despite being the underdogs on the day (much to the delight of the young boy) and which provided him with much 'bragging rights' in school the following week!
In this year he was also taken to the local cinema by his father to go and watch a much anticipated new film. Unfortunately, despite living around the corner from the picture-house at that time, father and son still managed to arrive late and took their seats whilst a rather tall and menacing figure dressed in all-black filled the silver screen whilst vigorously interviewing a series of reluctant candidates for information.
For the next two hours or so, father and son were transported to a galaxy far far away and looked on as the forces of good tussled and battled a powerful and dark enemy, amidst a backdrop of strange looking creatures, guns that shot light instead of bullets and the best special effects of any film that either of them had ever seen.
That film was of course the original Star Wars and marked the beginning of a story which has spanned the decades and delighted millions of people around the world, including my own children.
Did you know that two people from North Wales were so inspiredly the Star Wars story, that they founded their own church which is now known as 'The Church of Jediism' and which now has over 500,000 members worldwide!
Their mission statement: 'To promote the path of harmony with the Force through finding happiness by helping others and to create a world where there is no discrimination, violence, cruelty or poverty,' certainly a noble quest worthy of any Jedi.

In the meantime, may the Force be with you!
